Holiday History
This particular project was originally started, and for the most part, completed back in Fall of 2012, my first full time semester at CNM as a major in Computer Information Systems.
**theHolidayHistoryBook.com is not currently active due to me forgetting to update my payment information with the hosting site - hoping to re-upload to the host soon**
Starting the Initial Project
When I first created this website, I was taking an Adobe Dreamweaver class that was required for my major at the time at Central New Mexico Community College. There were a lot of really cool templates but finding the software, overall kind of clunky, I took that original template and coded away in Notepad++ and built a small, static website from there.
As I began learning newer and more up to date HTML and CSS, I also began to learn about Bootstrap and all it's uses. I began the personal challenge of updated my Holiday History Book and reconfiguring the whole site, reorganizing it and doing additional grammar and spelling checks.
Current Status
After learning the basics of Bootstrap 4 during my internship, I began the work of recreating my whole website from scratch, going bottom up, and using the tools at my disposal to improve my website and make it look significantly more professional and modern. A website a student in high school or undergrad could use as a reference for a short research paper on a specific or general subject surrounding common holidays celebrated in the western world and their history pre- and post- christian era.
Project remains ongoing and still learning React.
Some of the obvious tools I used from bootstrap is .container, .container-fluid, and .nav to organize each of my pages through out my website. Some others that may not have been as obvious were classes for images and collapsibility and adding my own customization to it to match the theme of my website.
Non-Programming Goal for theHolidayHistoryBook.com
A non-programming related goal I have for my website is also continuing to do research on my site and adding new references to back up my new finding or current ones I already have by either other educational, government or commercial sites as well as old school research with books!
